Location: 101 - CMO Description Summary: The Director of School Operations leads the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of operational systems across Gestalt Community Schools, ensuring schools are safe, compliant, efficient, and positioned to support strong academic outcomes. This role oversees facilities, school operations, enrollment, support services, and operational systems while managing cross-functional teams and driving network-wide excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a deep passion for education, is knowledgeable about charter schools, and has professional experience in school operations, project management, people management, and related functions. This role will design and improve scalable operational systems that support network growth. Reports to: Chief of Strategy and Operations Salary: Employees at GCS are provided with a competitive salary. Direct Reports: Asset Management Coordinator, Instructional Technology Manager, Network Facilities Manager, Network Operations Manager, and Senior Manager of Recruitment and Enrollment Core Responsibilities: Facilities, Safety and Risk Management, School Operations and Support Services Oversight, Recruitment and Enrollment Strategy, Systems, Budget and Team Leadership Facilities, Safety and Risk Management • Lead network-wide facilities strategy • Oversee safety systems, compliance, and emergency preparedness • Co-create and monitor maintenance schedules, routines, and protocols • Manage capital projects and vendor performance School Operations and Support Services Oversight • Ensure strong school operations systems • Strengthen customer service systems across schools • Supervise the ongoing professional development, accountability systems, and coaching support for school operations teams • Oversee attendance, enrollment, and records compliance • Oversee nutrition, security, transportation, and aftercare systems • Maintain state and local permits, certifications, and compliance for nutrition, security, transportation and aftercare vendors • Develop consistent systems, policies, and procedures for vendor management • Ensure vendor quality, compliance, and service delivery Recruitment and Enrollment Strategy • Lead enrollment strategy and performance monitoring • Drive recruitment execution and enrollment accountability Systems, Budget and Team Leadership • Lead operational planning, budgeting, and dashboards • Build tools, systems, and professional learning structures Preferred Competencies • Change Management • Cross-functional Leadership • Data Analysis • Clear Communication • Grant Writing • Interpersonal Skills • Systems Thinking • Problem-Solving • Professional Development • Project Management • Vendor Management • Team Development Requirements • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred • Experience in charter school, district, or multi-campus environments • Experience managing teams, vendors, budgets, and cross-functional projects • 5+ years of school leadership experience • 5+ years leading complex school or multi-site operations *The critical features of this role are described above but not all encompassing
